Cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis vulgarus

Abstract
Objective: Surveying cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis vulgaris in Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study in 100 patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Result: Prevalence rates of cardiovascular risk factors were as follows: dyslipidemia (70%), irregular physical activity (41%), hypertension (41%), smoking (39%, overweight/obesity (25%), hyperhomocysteinemia (23%), diabetes mellitus (11%) and excessive alcohol consumption (9%). There was correlation between elevated homocysteine levels in the blood and severity of psoriasis. Conclusion: The study showedthat cardiovascular risk factors inpatients with psoriasis vulgaris were high. We recommend screening and controlling cardiovascular risk factors for all psoriasis patients.
