Assessing the effectiveness of treating genital lichen sclerosus by combining topical corticosteroids with tacrolimus

Abstract
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of treating genital lichen sclerosus by combining topical corticosteroids with tacrolimus. Subject and method: Clinical trial compared the effectiveness before and after treatment. Result: In the total of 37 treated patient, we saw 5.4% were mild, 67.6% were moderate, 27.0% were severe. After 1 month, no symptoms were seen in 73% of patients. Moreover, the mean effectiveness was 44.11% and 53.32% in 3 months and 6 months, respectively. The itching and burning symptoms improved rapidly. Conclusion: The treatment of genital lichen sclerosus by corticosteroids in the first month and tacrolimus in the next 5 months showed the effectiveness was 55.32%.
