Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of NAFLD and its related factors in patients aged 60 years and older. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 404 patients aged ≥ 60 years who visited the Senior Officials Clinic at Military Hospital 175 from August 2024 to June 2025. Result: The mean age of the study population was 70.1 ± 6.7 years, with males accounting for 74%. The prevalence of NAFLD diagnosed by ultrasound was 59.9%, predominantly mild to moderate in severity. Multivariate analysis showed that obesity, central obesity, and elevated triglycerides were independently associated with NAFLD risk. Factors such as age, gender, hypertension, and impaired glucose metabolism were not statistically significant after adjustment. Conclusion: NAFLD is a common condition in older adults and is independently associated with obesity, central obesity, elevated triglycerides, and insulin resistance. These preliminary findings support considering weight control, waist circumference management, and lipid regulation as potential targets for NAFLD prevention in the elderly
