Abstract

Summary

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin microinjection for facial sebum reduction. Subject and method: Twenty patients with oily skin were treated with intradermal Botulinum toxin injection using 30 units from 10/2019 to 07/2020. Before and after treatment, sebum production was measured with Sebumeter. VISIA was used for wrinkle and pore evaluation. Patients were asked about their satisfaction. Result: 100% patients had significant lower sebum reduction after 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months (p<0.001). Wrinkle and pore were also improved in comparison with before and after each following up (p<0.05). However, no significant difference between each following up had been recorded. 70% patients were satisfied and very satisfied with the result. Besides, side effects such as purpura, edema were mild and spontaneously resolved with time. Conclusion: Botulinum toxin microinjection is safe and effective for facial sebum reduction. It also has wrinkle and skin pore reduction.
