Abstract

Summary

Objective: To describe the kinematic of serum IL-6, TNF-α and the correlation with SLEDAI in systemic lupus erythematosus patients. Subject and method: A descriptive study, comparing 105 acute SLE patients who were treated at the Center for Allergy - Clinical Immunology of Bach Mai Hospital from April 2014 to December 2014 with 31 controled healthy individuals. Result: The average age of the patients was 30.49 ± 13.01, and of the healthy controls was 33.84 ± 7.96. The ratio of females to males was 10.66. The average active disease (SLEDAI score > 12 point) was 69.53%, and strongly active disease (SLEDAI score from 6 to 12 point) was 29.52%. In the SLE patients, the average concentration of IL-6 patients was 13.06 ± 21.45pg/ml, and of TNF-α was 52.09 ± 47.17pg/ml, and in the control group, those were 1.3 ± 1.83pg/ml and 5.62 ± 5.8pg/ml respectively (p<0.05). Pearson’s correlation between SLEDAI and IL-6, TNF-α was 0.3 and 0.31 respectively. Conclusion: The concentration of IL-6 and TNF-α in SLE patients was higher than that of the controls. There was a correlation between the concentration of IL-6 and TNF-α with the degree of disease activity (SLEDAI).
