Abstract

Summary

Objective: Garlic and back garlic have been shown to antioxidant effects, cardiovascular protection, regulating blood sugar and anti-cancer. Black garlic contains high levels of organosulphur compounds, such as water-soluble S-allylcysteine (SAC) which has potential anticancer effect. This study, we evaluate the anti-liver cancer effects of SAC and black garlic extract. Subject and method: Anti-liver cancer effects of SAC and black garlic extract were evaluated on Hep-3B cell lines by MTT assay. Result: The data indicated that the Hep-3B cancer cells replication were significantly inhibited at 100mM of SAC and 0.25mM, 0.5mM, 1mM of black garlic extract (p<0.05). Conclusion: The SAC and black garlic extract have been shown anti-cancer effect on hepatocellular carcinoma of Hep-3B cell lines.
