Abstract

Objective: To investigate clinical characteristics and histopathology of orbital lesion of patients performed orbital exenteration. Subject and method: 45 patients underwent orbital exenteration from 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2015 at Vietnam National Institute of Ophthalmology. Result and conclusion: Mean age of objects was 48.8 ± 27.8 years. 21/38 of patients was blindness. 66,7% of patients suffered orbital exenteration had previous tumor excision. The proportion of eyelid tumors was 42.2%, globe tumor was 22.2%, orbital tumor was 17.8% and conjunctival tumor was 17.8%. The rate of histopathology results after surgery: Retinoblastoma: 20%, melanoma: 20%, sebaceous gland carcinoma: 17.8%, basal cell carcinoma: 13.3%, squamous cell carcinoma: 11.1%. The average age of retinoblastoma patients was 2.9 ± 1.2, lower than the other malignant tumors.
