Abstract
Summary
Objective: To examine the association between blood pressure control and status function in elderly patients with hypertension. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study was analyzed in hypertensive patients 60 years of age and older who were receiving treatment at the Department of Advanced Military Personnel Department, 175 Military Hospital from October 2015 to March 2016. Result: 1.8% restrict at least one basic daily function and 19.2% of patients had limited daily function and blood pressure control related to the condition. ADL restriction as well as IADL were statistically significant. The rate of good blood pressure control was significantly lower in the group with limited activity. Through univariate analysis, in patients with limited function, the ability to control blood pressure reaches the target by only 0.27 times compared to the group without functional restrictions (OR = 0.27; 95% CI: 0.16–0.47; p<0.001). Conclusion: Blood pressure control was related to functional status including ADL and IADL. Elderly people with hypertension with limited functional activity, the ability to control blood pressure is lower than that of patients who do not have functional restrictions (OR = 0.27; 95% CI = 0.16–0.47) with p<0.001.
