Abstract

Objective: To assess changes in some cardiac function indexes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and to investigate the correlation of some cardiac function indexes with serum TNF-α. Subject and method: 122 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 51 healthy controls were examined for cardiac function index by cardiac Doppler ultrasonography and serum TNF-α test. Result: There was a change in some cardiac function indexes in rheumatoid arthritis patients compared with controls. There was a weak correlation between some cardiac function indexes and serum TNF-α levels in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Conclusion: There was a correlation between some cardiac function indexes with serum TNF-α levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
