Abstract

Objective: Determining the optimal surgical approach for ovarian mucinous tumors at the time of diagnosis is extremely important. Subject and method: A descriptive study on 181 patients who underwent ovarian tumor surgery at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2025, with postoperative histopathological results confirming ovarian mucinous tumors. Result: Elective surgeries accounted for 95%, while emergency surgeries due to ovarian torsion accounted for 5%. Laparoscopic surgery accounted for 71.8%. In the benign tumor group, the rate of laparoscopic surgery was high at 81.1%. In the malignant tumor group, the open surgery rate was the highest at 88.2%. For benign ovarian tumors, cystectomy accounted for 68.3% (p<0.05). In the malignant tumor group, the primary intervention was adnexectomy + omental biopsy (p<0.01). The majority of menopausal patients underwent bilateral adnexectomy, while 67.7% (p<0.01). The complication rate was very low but relatively severe included 1 case of reoperation due to bleeding and 3 cases of bowel injury.
