Abstract
To present early outcomes of single-stage anterior cruciate ligament revision reconstruction. Subject and method: 40 patients (mean age 27.9 ± 5.3 years; range 21–54) with postoperative knee laxity after primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction underwent single-stage arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament revision. Clinical outcomes were evaluated with the Lysholm score and the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) grading system. Knee stability was evaluated using the KT-1000 arthrometer and the pivot-shift test. Result: Mean time follow-up was 17.3 months (range 12 - 29). At final assessment, the mean Lysholm score was 89.7 ± 10 (range 61–100). According to the IKDC, 38 patients (95 %) were graded A or B, one patient grade C, and one patient grade D. Mean anterior tibial translation measured by KT-1000 was 2.8 ± 1.4mm (range 0–10.5). The pivot-shift test was negative in 25 patients (62.5 %); it was positive (1+) in 13 cases (32.5 %), (2+) in 1 case (2.5 %), and (3+) in 1 case (2.5 %). Conclusion: Early results of single-stage anterior cruciate ligament revision are encouraging, with good to excellent outcomes in 95 % of patients. Concomitant meniscal or chondral lesions negatively affect results.
