Abstract
Intraneural ganglion cysts are rare, benign tumors within the sheath of peripheral nerve, typically diagnosed at a late stage due to progressive neurological symptoms. Articular (synovial) theory, a connection between the cyst and adjacent joints via the articular branch of the nerve. Diagnosis and preoperative planning is able to be assisted with imaging modalities such as ultrasound and MRI. Although the best method of addressing these cysts is controversial, decompression of nerve and disconnection of the cyst from the joint or articular branch ligation to reduce recurrence risk are widely accepted. This report presents a case of cubital tunnel syndrome caused by an intraneural ulnar ganglion cyst, successfully treated at Hanoi Medical University Hospital through complete cyst excision and ligation of the connecting elbow joint. A follow-up examination three months postoperatively demonstrated significant neurological improvement and no recurrence.
