Abstract

Objective: To study the efficacy and safety of topical calcipotriol on patients with deep palmoplantar warts. Subject and method: A self-controlled clinical trial was conducted on 20 patients with deep palmoplantar warts at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology, applying calcipotriol twice daily for 8 weeks. The efficacy was assessed on the 8th week. Result: There was a statistically significant reduction in both the number and size of warts before and after treatment. The proportion of patients achieving effective results after 8 weeks of treatment was 55%, with no significant difference in the evaluation of treatment efficacy between patients and doctor. The rate of patients experiencing side effects was 25%, most of which were mild side effects. All patients were satisfied/ very satisfied with the treatment method. Conclusion: Calcipotriol is effective in treating deep palmoplantar warts in terms of both the number and size of lesions, and it is also a relatively safe method, with all patients reporting satisfaction or high satisfaction post-treatment.
