Evaluation of the results of colonoscopic resection of large (≥ 2cm) pedunculated polyps with endoloop-assisting device at the 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To describe efficacy, and safety of cutting large pedunculated colorectal polyps using an Endoloop-assisting device. Subject and method: A prospective study included 75 patients with colorectal polyps, identifying 84 large pedunculated colorectal polyps (≥ 2cmm in size). These polyps were ligated with an Endoloop and cut using an electric snare through flexible endoscopy in the Gastroenterology Department of 108 Military Central Hospital from April 2023 to October 2023. Result: The average age of the study group was 60 years. The male-to-female ratio was 2.4:1. Among the 75 patients, 181 polyps were detected, including 84 pedunculated colorectal polyps ≥ 2cm. The results of polyp cutting with Endoloop application showed successful ligation and cutting in all 84 polyps (100%). Complications after polyp cutting included bleeding at two polyps (2.4%) due to inadequate ligation, which was successfully managed with additional clip application. The hospital stay was less than 24 hours for 70.67% of patients after polyp cutting. Conclusion: Endoloop is a useful blood-assisting device for cutting stalked colorectal polyps ≥ 2cm in size. However, close monitoring and improvement of technical practices for endoscopy nursing support are essential.
