Studying some hippocampal characteristics and the results of 0.9% NaCl injection in the hippocampus in rat

Abstract
Objective: To determine some characteristics of hippocampal size and hippocampal injection coordinates and comment on hippocampal injection results in rat. Subject and method: A descriptive controlled experimental study of 18 healthy adult rats weighing 210-240g. Result: Distance of needle to hippocampal inner margin (1.71mm), outer margin (1.56mm), dorsal (1.22mm), ventral (1.38mm), head (2.21mm) and tail hippocampus (2.3mm); Distance from dorsal hippocampus to parietal cortex was 2.11mm. Conclusion: The hippocampal measures are antero-posterior of 4.26mm, medio-lateral of 3.15mm and dorso-ventral of 2.49mm. The coordinates inject into CA1 region of hippocampus is AP = - (4.4 ± 0.8) mm; ML = ± (2.2 ± 0.2) mm; DV = - (3.1 ± 0.1) mm. Injecting 2.5μl of solution into the hippocampus have not seen affect on the rat health.
