Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the results of retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery for treating ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) at Viet Duc Hospital from 2012 to 2017. Subject and method: A descriptive study on 62 patients who was operated on retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery to treat UPJO. Patients were evaluated clinical, subclinical characteristics and image diagnosis at 3 months before and after surgery. Result: Average age was 29.1 ± 11.1 years. 38 males (61.29%). 39 patients (63%) underwent surgery to cut plastic surgery, 23 patients (37%) underwent non-plastic surgery. Mean operation time was 106.8 minutes. Duration of treatment after surgery was 4.74 days. After 3 months: The mean before-posterior diameter of the renal pelvis on CT scan was significantly reduced (37.6mm before surgery to 15.5mm). The percentage of patients with a degree of fluid retention at 3rd and 4th levels decreased (from 54.84% to 3.23%). The rate of patients with good treatment results according to the general standard was 88.71%. Conclusion: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery to treat UPJO has a high success rate (88.71%), giving the same result as open surgery, but shortening the hospital stay and high aesthetics.
