Caregiver burden of Parkinson patients with hypertension and association with caregiver’s characteristics

Abstract
Objective: The study aimed to assess caregiver burden of Parkinson's disease patients and some related factors. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 50 Parkinson’s caregivers treated at the National Geriatric Hospital from July 2021 to July 2022. Study subjects were interviewed according to a medical record, the caregiver burden of Parkinson's disease patients was assessed using the Zarit questionnaire - The Zarit Burden Interview and the depression, anxiety. Result: Mean of Zarit score was 23.52 ± 13.84, caregiver burden of Parkinson patients with hypertension level II (29.41 ± 15.891) higher respectively with patients in level I was 18.89 ± 10.038. Caregiver burden had associated with aged of caregivers, duration of caring, depression-anxiety and stress symptoms. Summarize of DASS-21 and characteristics of patients with hypertension level II higher with those in level I (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is necessary to have the intervention programs to reduce stress and caregiver’s burden of Parkinson patients with hypertension.
