Abstract

Objective: Through patients with spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma have undergone surgery. Thereby drawing experience to better treat this type of disease. Subject and method: We describe and analyze 6 patients with spontaneous spinal cord hematoma who underwent surgery at the Department of Neurosurgery at 108 Military Central Hospital in 5 years from January 2017 to December 2021. Result: Age of patients ranged from 47-80 years, male: 5 patients, female 1 patient. The time from symptom onset to hospital admission ranged from 12 hours to 7 days, and the time from symptom onset to surgery ranged from 15 hours to 9 days. All patients underwent laminectomy, hematoma removal, and decompression. ASIA grade A 1 patient (complete neurological deficits); Grade B 1 patient, Grade C 4 patient (Incomplete neurological deficits). Results when discharged: Nurick score: 5 points (2 patients), 3 points (1 patient) and 2 points (2 patients). After 6 months: Nurick score: 1 ponit 3 patients, 2 points 1 patient, 4 points 1 patient, 5 points 1 patient. Conclusion: MRI for early diagnosis of spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma is necessary as soon as symptoms are suspected. Early surgery should be considered in patients for spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma with motor impairment
