Evaluating patients' satisfaction with epidural assessment care after gastrointestinal surgery at 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the satisfaction level of patients and side effects when using patient controlled epidural analgesia after gastrointestinal surgery. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study, analyzing 206 cases after gastrointestinal surgery at the Department of Gastroenterology, 108 Military Central Hospital from 04/2021 to 12/2021. Result: Study on 206 patients, including 58 women and 148 men. VAS score < 3 was 79.6% at rest and 65.1% on movement. The 2nd and 3rd day were 95.1%; 85.9%; and 98.1%; 93.2% respectively. Overall satisfaction with the pain relief effect of the patients was 93.2% (192/206), of which 61.7% of the patients were very satisfied with the pain relief package. Over 90% of patients felt satisfied and very satisfied with the pain care, the attitude of the medical staff, and the method pain relief services was provided. There were 95.1% of patients were very confident in the pain relief package after surgery. Side effects include back pain was 2.43%, itching was 1.46%, nausea was 1.46% and vomiting was 0.49%. Conclusion: The study showed that patient satisfaction with patient controlled epidural analgesia after gastrointestinal surgery reached a high rate, mild transient adverse effects.
