Abstract

Objective: To describe the situation of stress, depression and anxiety in the study subjects and analyze some stress-related factors in the nurses working in the departments of internal medicine of 108 Military Central Hospital in 2019. Subject and method: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in 347 nurses, aged 22 - 53 years, working in the departments of internal medicine. The DASS 21 scale, brief job stress questionnaire (BJSQ) and semi-structured questionnaire were used to evaluate depression, anxiety and stress and job stress of the study subjects. Result: Nurses aged 31 - 50 accounted for the majority (62.6%), male 33.1%, female 66.9%. The percentage of study subjects suffering from stress, depression and anxiety were 19.6%, 24.5% and 43.2%, respectively, of which, the rate of stress, depression and anxiety at very serious and very heavy level were 4.4%, 2.9% and 11%, respectively. The multivariate logical regression analysis found a number of stress-related factors for the subjects including the death of the patient (p<0.05), hospital violence (p<0.001), job stress (p<0.001), level of listening by superiors (p<0.01). Conclusion: Nursing stress, depression and anxiety are worrisome. Thus, interventions that affect stress factors are needed to early improve the mental health of these subjects.
