Abstract
Objective: To identify the knowledge and practice of patients on oral health care at the Department of Dentistry - 108 Military Central Hospital in 2019. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 400 patients were examined and treated at the Department of Dentistry from March 1st, 2019 to June 30th, 2019. Result and conclusion: The knowledge and practice of patients in oral hygiene care were obtained as follows: About the patients' knowledge: The percentage of patients who correctly answered the cause of tooth decay was very low as 16.8%. The percentage of patients having a good level of knowledge about the cause and consequence of the oral disease were 47.3%. The percentages for average level and low level were 27.5% and 25.2%, respectively. The percentages of patients having the good level, average level and low level of knowledge about oral hygiene were 29.5%, 44% and 26.5%, respectively. About the practice of the patient: Including the patient who answered correctly about the frequency of daily brushing, how to use the floss, regular dental visits. Assessing the level of dental hygiene practices of patients was as follows: The good level of 47.3%, the average level of 33.3% and the poor level of 19.4%.
