Abstract

A 44-year-old woman with a 10-year history of nummular eczema received antibiotics and anti-inflammatory treatment, improving her condition. This study monitored the changes in external signs of the facial and neck skin of a patient with atopic dermatitis (nummular eczema) after treatment with exosomes secreted from umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells. The treated skin area was topically applied with exosomes combined with hyaluronic acid and electrophoresis to support exosome absorption into the inner skin layers, with three consecutive treatments over three weeks. Safety was monitored within 72 hours, and clinical symptoms were followed up to three months. Results showed that no adverse effects were recorded (such as hot sensation, redness due to irritation, burning, swelling, edema, or fever). Symptoms of atopic dermatitis were reduced immediately after the first treatment. After the third treatment, all monitored characteristics were significantly improved. Specifically, redness and itching decreased by two levels, dry skin decreased by one level, and skin brightness and smoothness increased by two levels. These data indicate that exosomes are safe and effective in reducing atopic dermatitis and increasing skin moisture, reducing dryness, redness, and itching on the face and neck.
