Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of catgut embedding therapy with rheumapain on patients with lumbar spine syndrome due to lumbar disc herniation. Subject and method: Randomized clinical trial study participants were 68 patients diagnosed with lumbar spine syndrome caused by lumbar disc herniated and eligible for the study. They were equally divided into 2 groups: Group 1 consisted of 34 patients, who were treated with catgut embedding therapy and rheumapain; Group 2 consisted of 34 patients, who were treated with rheumapain liquid form. Result: The level of VAS pain in the treatment group decreased from 6.03 ± 0.83 (point) to 2.65 ± 0.85 (point) better than the control group (p<0.05); An improvement of daily living index in the treatment group, ODI score decreased from 16.56 ± 1.78 (point) to 7.29 ± 2.26 (point), better than the control group (p<0.05); Overall treatment results: The treatment group achived results of: Good: 41.2%, fair: 55.9%, average: 2.9%, There was no poor results (p<0.05), no unwanted effects. Conclusion: Catgut embedding therapy with rheumapain has positive effect and safe for patients with lumbar spine syndrome caused by lumbar disc herniation.
