Abstract
Objective: To investigate several clinical and neuroimaging characteristics in acute ischemic stroke patients with intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis in Phu Tho General Hospital. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive prospective study on 102 ischemic stroke patients hospitalized within 72 hours from the onset, with mild and moderate severity (NIHSS ≤ 15), were treated in Phu Tho General Hospital from September 2015 to October 2018. Result and conclusion: The proportion of male patients accounted for 60.8%, higher than female ones, the group of 60 - 69 years old patients accounted for the highest proportion of 42%. The most common risk factor related to ischemic stroke were hypertension (81.4%), smoking (56.9%), diabetes mellitus 42% and lipid disorders (37%). The most common onset symptoms were hemiparesis 90%, hemisensory deficits (88.2%), cranial nerve lesions (80.4%)... To evaluate stenosis and occlusive of intracranial arteries on MRA, a stenosis artery (96.2%), multiple stenosis arteries (3.8%); mild stenosis 29.6% and occlusive 40.7%. To evaluate stenosis and occlusive of extracranial arteries on carotid Doppler ultrasound, a stenosis artery (63.8%), multiple stenosis arteries (36.2%); mild stenosis 53.1% and occlusive 1.6%.
