Management of drug-drug interactions on inpatient at No1 National Psychiatric Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of pharmacists' intervention in the management of drug-drug interactions in inpatients at the No1 National Psychiatric Hospital. Subject and method: Cross-sectional descriptive study. Result: Among 382 inpatients treated at the hospital from March 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021, 161 drug - drug interactions (16 pairs of drug - drug interactions) were detected on 127 patients. The detected drug-drug interactions were all at a serious level, in which drug interactions by pharmacodynamic mechanism accounted for 56.5%. The 3 most common drug interactions with frequency in patients were: Diazepam-olanzapine (6.0%), clozapin-risperidone (5.5%), clozapin-haloperidol (4.5%). All 161 drug interactions detected were discussed with the treating physician, of which 80.1% of consultations were approved by the physician, 18.0% of the physician partially approved and 1.9% of the physician did not agree with the advice of the pharmacist. Recorded 29.5% of drug interactions were managed and adjusted through additional monitoring of the electrocardiogram, drug discontinuation, drug substitution, and drug dose adjustment. Conclusion: Analyzed the effectiveness of clinical pharmacology activities in the management of adverse drug interactions in inpatients at the National Psychiatric Hospital No1.
