Clinical manifestations of colorectal and terminal ileum inflammation in children

Abstract
Objective: To describe clinical manifestations and understanding related factors of colorectal and terminal ileum inflammation in children. Subject and method: 226 children scheduled for a colonoscopy with biopsy, histological examination in the research croosal-section and divided 3 groups of diseases. Result: Mean age was 5.1 ± 4.6 years (0.1 - 17.6 years). The proportion of children with a bloody stools was high 74/226 (32.7%), then persistent diarrhea 59/226 (26.1%), abdominal pain 38/226 (16.8%) and anemia 33/226 (14.6%). Persistant children had higher risk of nonspecific proctocolitis than other diseases, p=0.0001, OR = 5.02 (95%CI: 2.5 - 10.0). Conclusion: Common symptoms of colorectal and terminal ileum inflammation in children included bloody stools, persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain and anemia. Persistant children were more likely to have nonspecific proctocolitis than other diseases.
