Evaluation of the toxicity of FOLFOX 4 regimen in colorectal adenocarcinoma patients with distant metastasis

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the toxicity of FOLFOX 4 regimen in colorectal adenocarcinoma patients with distant metastasis at Bach Mai Hospital. Subject and method: A retrospective study in 52 colorectal adenocarcinoma patients at the distant metastatic stage who were chemically treated with FOLFOX 4 regimen at Bach Mai Hospital from January 2012 to June 2014. Result and conclusion: Haematopoietic toxicity was usually mild and capable of rapid recovery, including: Leukopenia (25.3%), reduction of hemoglobin (36.5%), thrombocytopenia (17.5%) and only at the level 1 or 2. Other toxicity than the haematopoietic system included: Increasing liver enzymes at levels 1 and 2 (17.5%), level 1 or 2 of the sensory neurotoxicity (26.9%), nausea (23.1%) and vomiting rarely. There were no cases of stopping treatment because of the toxicity.
