Abstract

Objective: To describe clinical and paraclinical characteristics of pneumonia with Chlamydia trachomatis infection in children under 6 months of age. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptions was realized on 71 cases of pneumonia with C. trachomatis infection, in Respiratory Department, National Children’s Hospital from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018. Result: Symptoms of prominent C. trachomatis infection of pneumonia in children under 6 months of age include persistent cough, conjunctivitis, nasopharyngitis, maternal birth history, maternal symptoms of gynecological inflammation in the period pregnancy. The number of eosinophils above 300/mm3 is considered as a subclinical symptom of pneumonia infection with C. trachomatis. Conclusion: Clinical manifestations of pneumonia caused by C. trachomatis are suggested, with persistent cough, accompanied by macular rhinitis, in mothers with symptoms of pregnancy gynecological inflammation. An elevated eosinophil count of ≥ 300/mm3 is considered a characteristic sign of pneumonia with C. trachomatis infection.
