Postoperative outcome evaluation of microscopic middle ear reconstruction at the Ear-Nose-Throat Department of 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the tympanic membrane perforation closure and hearing recovery among patients that underwent tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty at ENT Department of 108 Military Central Hospital from January 2019 to June 2020. Subject and method: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 44 patients diagnosed with chronic otitis media. Result: 88.6% had a success myringoplasty. The size of the eardrum perforation was not a prognostic factor. The site of the perforation was not corellate with the success myringoplasty. The pure tone average recovery was approx 10dB. Almost half of the study subjects had a very good air-bone gap closure. Conclusion: The surgery of tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty had a good outcome.
