Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the features of hematological peripheral blood and bone marrow parameters in ischemic stroke before massive bone marrow extracting for treatment. Subject and method: 57 patients with subacute ischemic stroke (7th day - 30th day) including 40 male and 17 female patients. 2ml of peripheral blood and 1 - 1.5ml of aspirated bone marrow taken from iliac crests of each patient. Then, the cell number peripheral blood and bone marrow were performed on automated laser-based hematology analyzer. We continued to conduct 2 - 4 peripheral blood and 6 - 8 bone marrow films, stain giemsa for morphology screening. Number and rate of CD34+ cell were analyzed on FACS allibur system. Result: The average number of white blood cell, red blood cell and platelets were 9.37 ± 2.76G/L; 4.89 ± 0.57T/L and 333.65 ± 83.79G/L, respectively. Erythrocyte indices were in normal range. The number of nuclear cells in bone marrow was 69.88 ± 51.75G/L; granulocyte line rate was 60.96 ± 7.06%; erythrocyte line rate was 20.49 ± 7.20%; morphology of bone marrow cell was normal. CD34+ cell rate was 0.99 ± 0.49%, viable CD34+ cell rate was 92.92 ± 5.11%; the concentration of CD34+ cell was 368.52 ± 271.69G/L. Conclusion: The characteristics of quantity, morphology and function of peripheral blood and bone marrow in subacute ischemic stroke patients were ensure for extracting massive bone marrow to create stem cell package for treatment.
