Abstract

Summary

Objective: To assess the efficacity of laser peripheral iridectomy (LPI) versus laser peripheral iridectomy combine with laser iridoplasty (LPI + IP) in acute primary angle closure glaucoma. Subject and method: Randomised double clinical experimetal study. Result: The study enrolls 63 eyes divided into 2 groups. Group 1: LPI of 31 eyes, group 2: LPI + IP of 32 eyes. Intraocular pressure in group 1: 15.29mmHg at 1st month; 14.25mmHg at month 6th, 14.87mmHg at month 12th. IOP in group 2: 15.67mmHg at 1st month; 14.58mmHg at month 6th, 15.88mmHg at month 12th. Mean IOP eye drops at month 6th for group 1 was 1.45; for group 2 was 1.18; at month 12th for both groups was 1.59 eye drops. The angle with at moth 12th in group 2 was 1.57, higher than group 1 (1.18), p<0.05. The most common complication post laser is hyphecma: Group 1 was 25.8%, group 2 was 9.4%. The success rate in goup 1 was 100%, group 2 was 96.9%. Conclusion: Laser peripheral iridectomy and laser peripheral iridectomy combine with laser iridoplasty have similar efficacity in acute PACG treatment.
