Abstract

Summary


Objective: Review the results 4 years after treatment of avascular necrosis of femoral head by using Spiron total hip replacement and give some comments. Subject and method: From 2012 to 2016, 66 patients who were not older than 50 years old with stage IV, V, VI of avascular necrosis (According to Steinberg classification) were treated by 81 Spiron hips replacement in the Institute of Trauma and Orthopedic at 108 Military Central Hospital. Study method: retrospective study. Result: Harris score pre-operative was 45.6 (± 3.4) points. The average follow-up time was 75.2 months, the shortest was 50 months, the longest was 94 months, average Harris score at the final examination was 84.3 (± 4.2). Results: 50.6% hips were exellent, 23.4% were good, 17.4% hips were medial, 8.6% hips were bad. There were 7 cases (8.6%) with revision hip replacement (only stem revision), there were 15 cases (18.5%) with over 2mm of displaced stems. Conclusion: Four years after treatment of avascular necrosis of femoral head using Spiron total hip replacement, results were, but the rate for revision and displaced stems complications remained high.
