Abstract

Objective: To assess the value of quantitative parameters obtained by elastosonography in differentiating the malignancy of thyroid nodules. Subject and method: 86 patients (94 thyroid nodules) were operated at K3 Hospital from Jun. 2018 to Jun. 2019. Comparison the elastosonographic quantitative parameters between malignant and bening groups by student T test. Discrimination abilities of quantitative parameters were determined according to ROC curve with computation of optimal cut-off points. Result: The strain ratio and elasticity index of bening and malignant groups were 3.2 ± 1.9 and 5.7 ± 3.5, 37.6 ± 26.1kPascal and 105.4 ± 48.8kPascal, respectively. The AUROC of strain ratio and elasticity index in discriminating between groups was 0.811, optimal cut-off point 4.72, Se 67.6%, Sp 85% and 0.889, optimal cut-off point 74.5kPascal, Se 74.3%, Sp 90%, respectively. Conclusion: Elastosonography is helpful for predicting the malignancy of thyroid nodules.
