Abstract

Objective: We describe this technique in relation to postoperative complications and evaluate the results of Whitehead hemorrhoidectomy at Surgical Center of Coloproctological and Perineal Diseases, Viet Duc University Hospital. Subject and method: 17 patients were used Whitehead hemorrhoidectomy technique from October 2011 to June 2017, retrospective descriptive study. Result: Age 49.8 ± 13.6 (27 - 70), mean operating time (min) 50.6 ± 12.9 (30 - 80), mean hospital stay (day): 5.7 ± 1.7 (3 - 8), postoperative hemorrhage: 2 cases, anal stenosis: 1 case. Conclusion: Whitehead hemorrhoidectomy is a difficult technique, but the effective in treatment for circumferential hemorrhoid. Understanding the anal anatomy and technique is essential that we can use Whitehead’s hemorrhoidectomy with low rate of postoperative morbidity.
