Results of endoscopic thyroidectomy for benign thyroid nodules in 105 Military Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To assess the feasibility and safety of endoscopic surgery for benign thyroid nodule at the 105 Military Hospital. Subject and method: 31 patients had undergone endoscopic treatment for benign thyroid nodule from August 2014 to June 2018. Result: 31 patients underwent endoscopic thyroidectomy with 4 male patients and 27 female patients. The mean age was: 35.94 ± 10.93 years (16 -58 years). The mean nodular size was: 2.45 ± 0.91cm (0.6 - 4.5cm). There were 11 (35.5%) case of right lobectomy and 17 (54.8%) case of left lobectomy. The mean operating time was 86.45 ± 22.44 minutes (50 - 150 minutes). The mean blood lost was 13.68 ± 10.30ml (2 - 40ml). Change to open procedure was 1 (3.2%). There was no case of complications. The mean treatment time was 6.97 ± 2.30 days (3 - 15 days). The cosmetic results were considered good and excellent in all patients. Conclusion: Endoscopic thyroid surgery is increasingly common. It could bring a safe and effective treatment. Patients gained sense of cosmetic and comfort.
