Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the related factors of language disorders in adults with epilepsy. Subject and method: The evaluation was carried out on 200 patients with epilepsy. All patients were examined and had language neuropsychological tests done. Result: Have shown that the group of patients with partial epilepsy had a risk 5.14 times higher than the group of patients with generalized epilepsy (OR = 5.14, 95% CI: 1.38 ÷ 17.8, p=0.0021). The onset of disease under 6 years old caused a risk 12 times higher than other groups of age (OR = 12, 95% CI: 2.835 ÷ 58.37, p=0.0001). Usage of phenobarbital can cause more language disorders than other antiepileptic drugs (p<0.05). Conclusion: Complex partial epilepsy, age of onset under 6 years old and usage of phenobarbital are the high risk factors causing language disorders in adults with epilepsy.
