Abstract

Objective: To examine the prevalence and find out some factors that relative to mortality of necrotizing enterocolitis. Subject and method: Cross-sectional description of a series of preterm neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis treated at the National Hospital of Pediatrics from August 2015 to August 2016. Result: There were 73 preterm neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis in a total of 1150 preterm infants were monitored during the same study period. Prevalence of death was 23.3%. Mortality risks were low birth weight, lower gestational age, low plasma albumin, necrotizing enterocolitis in III stage, septicemia. Conclusion: Despite significant progress in intensive care for infants, especially preterm infants, necrotizing enterocolitis still was serious problem among premature.
