Abstract
Summary
Objective: To suvery on serum albumin and it’s relationship with some features of maintenance hemodialysis patients over 60 years old. Subject and method: This was a prospective, descriptive study including 61 hemodialysis patients over 60 years old at Friendship Hospital from September 2019 to May 2020. Result: Average serum albumin concentration was 36.84 ± 2.71g/l, the ratio of hypoalbuminemia was 26.4%. The ratio of hypoalbuminemia in patients on dialysis ≥ 5 years was higher than those in < 5 years (≥ 5 years: 41.7%, < 5 years: 13.5%, p<0.05). There was no difference in average serum albumin between the malnourished and the non-malnourished when divided by BMI. Serum albumin concentration had a moderately positive correlation with hemoglobin level (r = 0.43, p<0.05), and had a moderately negative correlation with CRP (r = -0.357, p<0.01). Conclusion: The longer the hemodialysis treatment takes, the higher the ratio of hypoalbuminemia is. Serum albumin concentration had a moderately positive correlation with hemoglobin level (r = 0.43, p<0.05), and had a moderately negative correlation with CRP (r = -0.357, p<0.01)
