Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the morphological characteristics of cerebral aneurysm and short-term results of treatment using flow diverter stent in the intracranial aneurysm disease. Subject and method: 227 consecutive patients were treated by mean of flow diverter stents in our institution from December 2011 to August 2019. The method is descriptive, cross-sectional study, retrospective cohort, timing follow up to evaluate treatment results. Result: There were 239 intracranial aneurysms among 227 patients. Mean age was 50.2 ± 12.1 years, and most of patients in this study were female, accounted for 71.4%. Saccular aneurysm accounted for 94.15%, which had 89.8% of dome to neck ratios less than 1.5. The aneurysm location in the anterior circulation was 95.6% of the total.

Most aneurysms had small and medium size, the percentage of large and giant aneurysm > 25mm was only 8.8%. We used flow diverter stents for all patients in the cohort, and the result of this technique was successfully in 99.56%. In this group, stents which were in the right position, well hatched and close to the wall, reached 92.8%. The tolerance of xenetic in aneurysm lesions after using flow diverter stent was 75.6%. The conplication rate after intervention was 4.4%. One cases (0.4%) was death because of technique in the intervention progress. The proportion of patients who had aneurysm occlusion in 3 and 6 months were 57.83% and 84.37% respectively. 4.9% of patients without symptoms had mild stenosis in the lumen of stent. Conclusion: Our study shows the safety and effectiveness of flow diverter devices for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms.
