Abstract
Malnutrition is a common health problem among children with cerebral palsy (CP). This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status and factors associated with height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) in children with cerebral palsy related to oxygen deficiency. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 58 patients examined at Vinmec Times City International Hospital from September 2024 to October 2025. The results showed that the prevalence of malnutrition was 56.9%, with underweight accounting for 51.7% and stunting accounting for 43.1% of all participants. Most malnourished children had moderate malnutrition, and 50% co-experienced two to three forms of malnutrition simultaneously. For each one-level increase in the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), body weight decreased by an average of 1.57 kg and BMI decreased by an average of 0.49kg/m². In conclusion, children with CP associated with oxygen deficiency had a high prevalence of malnutrition, with underweight and stunting being the most common forms, predominantly at a moderate degree. Greater severity of CP was negatively associated with children’s height, weight, and BMI.
