Abstract
Objective: To investigate the current status of cognitive impairment among elderly outpatients at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 405 elderly outpatients from Oct, 2025 to May, 2026. Cognitive function was assessed by MMSE. Result: The findings revealed that 18.5% of the study participants exhibited cognitive impairment. The domains of word recall and attention/calculation showed the highest rates of decline, at 73.6% and 61.5%, respectively. Significant different were identified between cognitive impairment and age, educational attainment, and marital status. Conclusion: High prevalence of cognitive deficits among elderly patients at Hai Phong Medical University Hospital, primarily in recall and attention. Need for periodic cognitive assessments.
