Abstract

Objective: To evaluate CT-based morphological characteristics and outcomes of Schatzker–type II tibial plateau fractures treated with locking plate fixation. Subject and method: A combined retrospective and prospective descriptive study of 42 patients with closed Schatzker-type II tibial plateau fractures treated with locking plates at 108 Military Central Hospital (January 2023 - March 2026). Outcomes were assessed using radiographic parameters and Rasmussen scores. Result: Mean age 51.4 ± 13.3 years; female patients accounted for 64.3%. Type II (A+P) was most common (54.8%). Implant selection differed significantly among fracture types (p=0.017). Postoperative anatomical parameters improved significantly (p<0.01). No infections or major complications. At a mean follow-up of 93.2 weeks in 33 patients, the union rate was 100%. Median Rasmussen radiographic score was 16 (IQR: 16 - 18) and functional score 28 (IQR: 27.5 - 29). Good-to-excellent outcomes accounted for 96.97%, while the II (A+P) group had significantly lower results (p<0.05). Conclusion: CT-based Schatzker-Kfuri classification is valuable for surgical planning. Locking plate fixation provides favorable outcomes, though complex II (A+P) fractures carry a relatively poorer prognosis.
