Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol in improving postoperative outcomes among abdominoplasty patients at Cho Ray Hospital. Subject and method: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 64 female patients undergoing abdominoplasty between August 2023 and August 2024 at the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Cho Ray Hospital. Data were collected from medical records and ERAS monitoring forms. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 20.0 with a significance level of p<0.05. Result: All patients were female, with a mean age of 43.34 ± 8.19 years and a mean BMI of 23.33 ± 2.92kg/m². Multimodal analgesia and postoperative nausea prevention were applied in 100% of cases, and 95.3% received intermittent pneumatic compression. The mean pain score decreased from 5.28 ± 0.77 at 24 hours to 3.48 ± 1.07 at 72 hours (p<0.001). The average hospital stay was 6.2 ± 1.8 days, with 53.1% achieving good recovery according to ERAS criteria. Early pain intensity within 72 hours was significantly associated with recovery (p<0.001). Conclusion: Implementation of the ERAS protocol in abdominoplasty effectively reduces postoperative pain, shortens hospital stay, and enhances early recovery and patient satisfaction.
