Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of endovascular stent placement for the treatment of complete subclavian artery occlusion caused by atherosclerosis. Subject and method: This retrospective case series included 17 patients with symptomatic complete subclavian artery occlusion who underwent endovascular stent placement at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City between November 2021 and November 2025. Patients were followed up at 3, 6, and 12 months after the procedure and annually thereafter. Technical success, clinical outcomes, primary patency, and procedure-related complications were assessed. Result: The technical success rate was 94.1%. Primary patency rates at 12 and 36 months were both 88.2%. One patient (5.9%) developed restenosis at 12 months. No procedure-related mortality or major perioperative complications were observed. Conclusion: When performed by experienced operators, percutaneous revascularization with primary stent placement is a safe and effective treatment option for symptomatic complete occlusion of the proximal subclavian artery, particularly in patients with significant comorbidities.
