Abstract

Objective: To investigate the role of nurses in the EUS-FNA/FNB technique and to document complications and unwanted symptoms following intervention in patients with pancreatic lesions. Subject and method: A descriptive study, combining retrospective and prospective approaches, was conducted on 73 patients at 108 Military Central Hospital from January 1, 2024, to December 15, 2024, to evaluate nursing activities during the procedure. Result: The mean age of patients was 60.64 ± 11.72 years, with males accounting for 69.9%. Pre-intervention preparations achieved high rates (over 90%), except for intravenous cannulation (83.6%). During the intervention, vital sign monitoring by nurses reached 100%, while the secretion section ranged from 68.5% to 82.2%. Post-intervention, common symptoms included sore throat (41.1%) and abdominal distension (37.0%). Post-intervention care and patient guidance exceeded 97%, except for oral hygiene instructions (86.3%). Conclusion: Nurses play a critical role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the EUS-FNA/FNB technique. Improvements in secretion suction skills and health education are needed to reduce unwanted symptoms.
