Research on slow wave activity characteristics in electroencephalography of ischemic stroke patients with insomnia

Abstract
Objective: To research the characteristics of theta and delta wave in ischemic stroke patients with insomnia. Subject and method: Prospective and cross-sectional descriptive study at the Stroke Department and Functional Diagnosis Department, Medical Military 103 Hospital, was carried out from June 2023 to July 2024. Result: In ischemic stroke patients with insomnia, theta wave occurrence rate was 45.2%, especially in leads Fp1-F3 and T4-Fp2; delta wave occurrence rate was 29%, especially in leads Fp1-F3; T3-Fp1; Fp2-F4 and T4-Fp2. Conclusion: Insomnia in ischemic stroke patients is associated with an increase in slow-wave activity (theta and delta), particularly in the prefrontal, frontal, and temporal regions on electroencephalography (EEG).
