Abstract

Objective: To survey the characteristics, pregnancy outcomes and some factors related to pregnancy outcomes in full-term nulliparous pregnant women. Subject and method: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 898 full-term nulliparous pregnant women treated at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 108 Military Central Hospital from July 2024 to July 2025. Result: The average age of pregnant women is 26.4 ± 3.5 years, older mothers (≥ 35 years old) account for 3.6%. The rate of pregnancies with assisted reproduction is 3.1%. The rate of cesarean section is 40.4%, mainly due to obstructed labor (35.7%); cephalopelvic disproportion (11.2%) and fetal distress (10.6%). The rate of cesarean section, the rate of mothers having amniotic fluid with meconium, the rate of infants with Apgar score 1 minute < 8 points tended to increase with gestational age from the 37-38week group to the 40 week group. There was no difference in maternal complications between gestational week groups, however, the 40 and 41 week groups had higher adverse perinatal outcomes than the remaining gestational weeks. Conclusion: The rate of cesarean section for nulliparous pregnancies is still high. In general, when comparing between gestational weeks, there was a difference between the rate of cesarean section, the rate of mothers having amniotic fluid with meconium, the rate of infants with Apgar score 1 minute < 8 and adverse perinatal outcomes tended to be higher at 40 weeks than at 39 weeks.
