Abstract
Background: Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has many advantages over traditional treatment methods in the treatment of gallstones. Objective: To evaluate the results of treatment of common bile duct stones by ERCP at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in 2024 - 2025. Subject and method: Cross-sectional description with comparison before and after ERCP on 126 patients with common bile duct stones. Result: The male/female ratio was 1.03/1; the most common age group was 50-89 (82.5%), clinical symptoms such as pain and fever improved immediately after ERCP a day (p<0.01); total bilirubin in the blood decreased significantly after ERCP 03 days (p<0.01); the average procedure completion time was 43.43 ± 17.79 minutes; 92.9% of patients had all stones removed on the first ERCP; 7.1% of patients had to have a second ERCP, no bleeding complications, acute pancreatitis, cholangitis were recorded, the rate of perforation complications was low (0,8%). Conclusion: ERCP is a safe and highly effective method of treating common bile duct stones, clinical and paraclinical symptoms improving rapidly.
