Abstract

In recent years, the use of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers has become increasingly popular. However, before injecting HA into high-risk areas of the face, doctors need to be extremely cautious. Fillers’ complications are rare but can be very adverse, including embolism, local necrosis. In this case, a 34-year-old woman had approximately 0.35mL of HA injected into the dermis by cannula into the left nasolabial fold to improve a sunken nasolabial fold. Four days after the procedure, noticing discoloration in the skin and some unusual symptoms, the patient visited our clinic. After clinical examination and ultrasound observation, the client was diagnosed with: “Ischemia after filler injection in the left upper lip, nasolabial fold and nose”. After being monitored and treated with Hyaluronidase, oral medications and local care, the affected area was released and stabilized after 10 days.
