Thực trạng sử dụng kháng sinh carbapenem tại Bệnh viện Đa khoa tỉnh Vĩnh Phúc, năm 2024

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the current status of carbapenem antibiotic usage at Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital, 2024. Subject and method: A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study based on 213 patients streated at Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital, from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024, who were prescribed carbapenem antibiotics. Result: Male/female ratio: ~2/1; Average age: 63.22 years; Majority of patients had more two comorbidities; The isolated bacteria were primarily gram-negative (89.23%); Most of carbapenem antibiotics were used according to empirical regimens (65.73%); The combination of carbapenem with another antibiotic was primarily chosen in both empirical regimens (64.29%) and targeted regimens (68.49%), in which the combination with aminoglycosides being the most common. Conclusion: The study provided insights into the usage of carbapenem antibiotics at the hospital. Consequently, there is a need to continue enhancing clinical pharmacy efforts to monitor and manage carbapenem antibiotic usage to improve treatment efficacy, reduce costs, and ensure user safety.
